A few months ago we brought you the story of Leigh Nicol, one of the hottest prospects in the women’s game who was struggling to find the cash which would allow her to remain at Arsenal and since then she has gone on to make a great impression in London.
Unfortunately, her financial situation has not improved and unless she is able to find £5,000 by the summer she will not be able to continue her training at Arsenal.
Unlike the boys, the female players at Arsenal have to pay their own way meaning that only those able to afford it are able to complete the courses there.
Leigh’s plight attracted some media attention but nowhere near enough so we are once again reaching out to Arsenal fans to see if there is any way you can help.
I spoke to Leigh about her time at Arsenal so far and it is clear that she is loving it, saying
I’m loving life down south, living the dream!
Such a great life balance, the girls are all brilliant and made me settle in like it’s home.
We train everyday after college which makes the college day a lot easier to get through knowing that I have football after it.
The weather is great compared to Scotland, that’s one of my favourite things [laughs].
I asked Leigh if she’d had any chance to spend time with the senior ladies and she replied
Nope, not yet cause they train at the men’s training ground and have their own houses.
Leigh says that Kim Little is her inspiration, adding
She’s also Scottish and one of the best women footballers to come out of Scotland.
She’s what I would aim to be.
